So, I am currently suffering a crisis in making a decision lol.

Should I get this hot tent tarp or not. It looks really good and has some good reviews and was reviewed by Grizzly Gaz a good YouTuber I am subscribed to.

I love tarp camping as it is so flexible and I love being more out in the open which a tarp allows you to be, unlike a tent which encloses you, plus most if not all tents create condensation even with vents. Yes, I know a tarp will to, but I always have my tarp open as in picture below.

As long as you have a good sleep system which I am fortunate to have then the tarp is well ventilated and suffers zero condensation. Also, it gives me enough room to put an X Bed in which helps me a lot with Ataxia especially getting on to my feet when I need to get up.

But the tent / tarp below, the OneTigris ROCDOMUS Hammock Hot Tent/ Tarp with Stove Jack, Versatile Lightweight Waterproof Camping Tarp with Zippered Tent Bag, PU3000mm 4 Season Tent for Stove Amazon link

It is basically a tarp but with more structured sides and doors and also designed for a hammock and a stove, not that I would use a hammock as not really my preferred way of sleeping. It comes with no poles as designed to be placed between 2 trees but obviously poles could be used if required.

But as you can see it has loads of space inside. Either a hammock or camp bed with plenty of room for kit and a chair, also a stove.

Which is just what I need. In addition, I have a camping log burner which I hardly use so this would be ideal and get some use out of it. In this case I prefer to have no base as I use a simple groundsheet, and unlike bathtub bases it would help illuminate any condensation. I then have the option to open or close the doors which are on both sides, and I could use my hammock but not strung up as a bug sheet over my camp bed which is what I do in my normal tarp. Lots of good height for standing up and also cooking.

A Fail

16 December 2024

The Tent tarp failed, and my kit got wet as it would not stand a very light shower, and condensation was over the top even with front tent flaps open. Although nice and spacious this is all this has going for it, I certainly cannot recommend this at all.
