Mental Health

Mental health is something most people have a stigma about, but at the same time we all suffer from it in various ways in our lives.

For me I suffer with PTSD, along with Anxiety and Depression and it’s very easy to fall into these things. Thoughts go around in your mind at a million miles an hour and the PTSD turns them into physical emotions. Shaking you up like a bottle of pop, but it’s not just the individual with these it also effects everyone around you.

Very often when on an emotional roller coaster people will say take some time out, meditate or do something distracting, but this can be hard to do when you’re not in a good place. For me to a point addressing feelings and so on can be managed by getting things off my chest (out of my head to be precise) and getting out into nature camping and then vlogging on what I am feeling tends to help. In a way it projects your thoughts and feeling so they become external. By this I mean by actually vocalising issues means you slow your thought process down and put into language what you are feeling by explaining it in a way someone else could understand. the act of vocailising  slows the whole process down and it often surprises you as when you do this then solutions to problems are found. Not in every case but very often.

Also, you could do this by yourself when your alone, but I find by putting onto film does not make you feel like you’re going mad and talking to yourself. Of course, it does not work all the time, and it depends on what the underlying cause of the issue is, but as a typical man I very often do not want to talk about stuff with anyone else as it does make you feel weak and moaning and so on. Also, if I bottle stuff up too long then it’s difficult to isolate the main issue.

But in general, this works for me and helps me release and reset by getting it out there. Now if you do not publish the vlog then no big deal as it’s not really about that but if you make the vlog as if you intended to then this allows you by explaining things to camera see things for what they truly are. Personally, I do not mind sharing as I hope that someone may benefit from it.

We are all unique and different and everyone’s persona realities are different as we see the world though a lens which is nurtured into us by life experiences both good and bad. What ma upset or effect one person does not mean it will upset another person in the same way. If we can get an understanding of why we see things and understand them based on our nurtured beliefs, then we do have an opportunity to address our perception of the core beliefs and then change them.

Don’t forget to also reach out when things get too much, or at least talk to a friend
